Call for Piano Works 2019 – Winners Announced

RickNEWS, RMN CLASSICAL

At RMN Classical we are excited to announce the Winners and Selected Composers of the 2019 edition of the Call for Piano Works. In its second edition, the project was launched to discover and promote composers and performers that would otherwise remain under the radar but also the more established ones.

As for every RMN Classical project, through this call for works, we aimed at creating a platform where contemporary classical music and artists can flourish and get heard, growing an already rich and diverse roster of composers and performers and a catalogue of music that features already both award-winning and up-and-coming works.

After an extremely demanding selection process, due to the very high number and excellent quality of the works received, we have selected the following works to be included in a new album that will be produced and released later this year by RMN Classical.

The Winners of the Call for Piano Works 2019 are (listed in alphabetical order):

Gary D. BelshawPassacaglia
Anruo Cheng – Moondust
Daniel Cummings – Aria
Gianluca Deserti – Nocturne
Georgi Dimitrov – Play!
Arthur Gottschalk – Fakebook II
Mari Kotskyy – Migrating Birds
Philippe Mathis – Dimensions Nr 8
Michael Staff – Dreams of a Somnambulist

And a special mention goes to the following works (these works won’t be featured in the winning release but will be considered for future publications):

Pieces of China (by M. Gould), performed by Susan Merdinger
Untranslatable Words composed by Rei Hamakawa

As part of the prize, the release will also be added to the Sound and Music Archive of the British Library and distributed on various platforms and outlets such as Spotify, Apple Music, Google Play Music, Amazon Music, Deezer, Pandora and many others.

With this newly curated release, composers and performers will have the opportunity to showcase their talent and works to a larger audience and we are sure our listeners will appreciate each and every one of the tracks featured, for their creative, fresh and unconventional qualities.

Once more, we want to thank all the artists that have participated in this annual edition, wishing them the best of success for their careers.
