LONDON, UK, Oct. 21, 2022 — RMN Classical is thrilled and proud to announce that “The Five Ways” the debut album by The Giuffre Memorial Trio will be released worldwide on Apple Music, Spotify, Amazon Music and all the digital platforms and stores on November 18, 2022.
Produced by Rick Romano for RMN Classical, and distributed by RMN Music, “The Five Ways” includes 13 tracks, some of which were composed and arranged by the Trio, while others were taken as a homage from the 1963 album by Jimmy Giuffre, Paul Bley and Steve Swallow titled “Free Fall”.
The Giuffre Memorial Trio is composed by Roger Arve Vigulf (clarinet), Per Christian Arnesen (bass) and Bjørn Norvall Hoemsnes (piano), and was created in 2021 to pay homage to the legendary Free Fall recording from 1963 by Jimmy Giuffre, Paul Bley and Steve Swallow. In the tradition of the free improvisation genre, the Trio’s music is made on the spot at the moment, with what they call “compovisation” (not “improvisation”), due to their background as classically trained musicians and composers – rather than jazz musicians.
With this release, The Giuffre Memorial Trio aims to bring the jazzy vibes and lively atmosphere of the original Free Fall release forward to the present time.
About Roger Arve Vigulf
Roger Arve Vigulf is a Norwegian clarinet soloist and composer. As a soloist, Vigulf has performed more than 100 works from composers such as Hegdal, Nordensten, Lønner, Lang, Martinaitis, Balakauskas and Hundsnes, as well as with a number of chamber and symphony Orchestras. As a composer, his works have been performed in famous National Philharmonic Halls in Lithuania, Norway, Holland, the USA, Irland, and England.

About Per Christian Arnesen
Born in Oslo, Norway, Per Christian Arnesen is a composer and conductor, who plays a variety of instruments including clarinet, contrabass and electric bass, and has wide experience in arranging popular music for different settings with woodwinds and brass. His works have been performed by national Orchestras and renowned Ensemble worldwide including Norway, the USA, Australia and Lithuania.

Bjørn Norvall Korsan Hoemsnesis a Norwegian composer. Hoemsnes started composing at a young age and oriented himself early on in cross-border music genres. His music is characterised by tradition and looking back at well-known genres. He is renowned for rhythmic popular music as well as classic kitsch and experimental music. His tonality stretches all the way from A to Z, with a feeling of aesthetics always a prime focus.
