Mari Kotskyy
Mari Kotskyy is a New York-based composer, arranger, and pianist, originally from Hokkaido, Japan. Her works have been performed throughout Japan, and the US (New York and Boston).
Her piano trio “Reminiscence” was selected by Juventas New Music Ensemble, and performed during the concert “Voices of America” in April 2019. The same work will also be performed in April 2020 for the concert series “Encore!”. Her other piano work “Snowfall” received a prize at the international composition competition “The contemporary piano 2019” in Athens, Greece.
She started taking piano lessons at the age of four, and composition classes at the age of six studying at Yamaha School of Music in Japan. At these classes, she learned how to express her emotions through music and the precious experience made her really into music.
In 2008 she moved to New York to study composition at The Juilliard School Evening Division under the guidance of Conrad Cummings. Currently, she studies at Berklee Online with a major in Music Composition for Film, TV, and Games. She composes in a variety of music styles, including classical pieces and film scores. She released a piano album “Rest” in 2018.
