Michael N. Starck


Michael N. Starck is a German sound designer, producer and multi-instrumentalist who specializes in compositional and conceptual hybrids of popular music and electroacoustic/ acousmatic elements. He has been involved in diverse projects ranging from local independent bands, popular electronic music to contemporary music. In 2013, he graduated from the University of Cologne with a Master’s degree in Musicology (Musik der Gegenwart).

As an author, he published the music philosophical essay Physikalische Schwingung und mentale Architektur. Zur Emergenz von Klang in the culture magazine Paradigmata: Zeitschrift für Menschen und Diskurse, No.12 – Spring 2015 (Vienna/ Austria).

His electroacoustic piece Ueberlastung des Systems (System overload) was presented at the NYCEMF (New York City Electroacoustic Music Festival) 2019.

In 2021, his electroacoustic piece Ascèse was selected for the album Electroacoustic and Beyond 6 by RMN Music.

He lives and works in Cologne, Germany.
