Gary D. Belshaw


Gary D. Belshaw (ASCAP) (b. 1949) is an American composer. The music of Gary D. Belshaw (ASCAP) has been performed throughout the U. S., and in England, Austria, Germany, the Czech Republic, Russia, and Spain. Among the performance venues in which his music has been performed are the conventions of the Texas Music Educators Association, Texas Music Teachers Association, Music Teachers National Association, Midwest Clinic, and Big 12 Trombone Conferences.

Performers of his works include the U. S. Naval Academy Band and the Naval School of Music; the University Orchestra and the Symphonic Winds of Texas Tech University; The Houston Symphonic Band; The Plainview Symphony; Don Lucas, trombone; and Sandra M. Mosteller, clarinet.

Six of Belshaw’s piano compositions were recorded by Richard Fountain on his debut CD, “American Ivory.” The album, a collaborative project by the pianist and the composer, tied for 3rd Place for the 2013 American Prize in Solo Piano Performance, Professional Division. Some of his early trombone pieces are available through Warwick Music, UK. His other works are available on Sheet Music Plus. His 10-minute one-act opera, The Worst One Ever, has enjoyed 32 performances in 21 productions across the United States.
