THE COMPETITION
Among the composers that have been considered for the release, there are Stockhausen, Steve Reich, Gavin Bryars, Morton Feldman and Joji Yuasa - to name just a few.
We decided to open this competition because we hope to enrich the release including a Worldwide Premiere of a work by a talented composer and because we hope to stimulate and promote the creation of new contemporary and experimental works and to discover emerging composers and more established ones.

THE PRIZE
Among the prize RMN Music will be happy to include:

GUIDELINES
- Only original and not yet recorded scores for electric guitar solo can be submitted.
- Works for electric guitar and electronics are highly encouraged.
If your work includes electronic, please note that compositions with live electronics will be disqualified. Please send works with pre-recorded electronics/tracks (tape) only.
Maximum duration: 5 minutes
- Submitted works must not exceed 5 minutes in duration.
Age / Nationality:
- Applicants may be of any nationality and age (minimum legal age of 18 required - if you are 17 or under, please Get in Touch before applying).
Other Limits:
There is no limit to the number of works that you can submit. Therefore applicants can submit more than one work.
Multi.movement Works:
Collection of works will not count as one work and application fee should be paid accordingly.
For eg. a collection of 3 works will count as 3 separate works and application fee should be paid accordingly.

NOTE: The application is through the application form. Please do not send your information or material through email because it will be deleted and disqualified and the fee will not be refunded.
WHAT YOU NEED TO PREPARE:
1) Prepare a folder containing the following material:
▪ PDF of the score(s) including 300 words long description of the work(s)
▪ Composer bio and photo in jpg
2) Please upload your folder to Dropbox (other sharing platforms can also be accepted). Please do not use WeTransfer or similar systems because their link expires. We need the link to remain active for the whole duration of the competition.
3) Generate a shareable link.
4) Paste the link in the application form (available on the application page, please follow link below to Apply).

THE JURY
Sergio Sorrentino is “one of the most important contemporary Italian guitarists” (RAI Radio Tre). He studied with Francesco Langone, Angelo Gilardino, Mario Dell'Ara, Leo Brouwer and Mark White and performed all over the world, from New York to Warsaw, passing through London and Berlin. Sorrentino’s work Dream - American Music for Electric Guitar was reviewed and highlighted in the New York Times by Seth Colter Walls as one of the "Week’s Best Classical Music Moments”.
He has worked with Gavin Bryars, Sylvano Bussotti, Bruno Canino, Alda Caiello, John Russell, Machinefabriek, Steven Mackey, Andrzej Bauer, Carlo Boccadoro, Elliott Sharp, Magnus Andersson - just to name but a few. He has released CDs on contemporary classical guitar music, New Music for electric guitar, improv and electronic projects. As a composer, he is the winner of the First Edition of the International Competition of Guitar Composition “Goffredo Petrassi” and Casa Ricordi and Universal have published his transcriptions for classical and electric guitar of the Azio Corghi’s compositions "Tang' Jok(Guitar)" and "De Nocturno Visu”. He teaches master classes in contemporary classical and electric guitar in Italy. A full biography is available here.
Rick Romano is a composer and conductor. He is a multi-faceted producer, manager and label director for RMN Music and RMN Classical with more than a dozen albums under his belt. He has studied composition with Paolo Ferrara following master classes with Steve Reich, David Lang, Michael Finnissy, Azio Corghi, Theodore Antoniou and Alberto Colla. He studied film music with Luis Bacalov and Fred Ferrari (BBC, CBS Spain, RAI, Mediaset) and orchestral conducting with Riccardo Muti and Paul Sarcich.
He was winner and finalist in various international competitions always receiving mention for the quality of the scores submitted. Most of his music is performed in various countries in Europe and North America and many works are published by independent and major labels as well (Warner/Chappell, Sony/ATV, Da Vinci Editions, RMN Music, Edizioni Sconfinarte). His catalogue includes concert music, incidental music for stage and theatre, music for the visual media (film, tv, video), arrangements, songs and orchestrations. He has produced numerous music albums and is involved in many projects in various capacities. He is interested in developing and exploring innovative ideas, experimenting with new music languages, different narrative forms and their interactions with the modern media.
