Timothy Tate
Timothy Tate (AUS/UK) is a composer and violist whose music is often informed by extra-musical concepts such as drama, expressivity and simultaneity. His works range from concert music to site-specific installations, often incorporating the medium of ¼ inch magnetic tape and obsolete technologies.
Timothy’s music has been performed and commissioned by leading ensembles in Australia and the UK. He recently graduated with Distinction from his Master of Music in Composition at the Royal Academy of Music in London, under the tutelage of Simon Bainbridge.
Timothy has been featured as both a composer and performer on ABC Classic FM (AUS) and his music has been featured in festivals such as the Spitalfields Festival (London), RAM Piano Festival (London), Fresh Meat (Melbourne), OzAsia Festival (Adelaide), and the New Music Network Mini Series (Brisbane). Recent engagements have included composing for CHROMA (UK), Blossom St Singers (UK), Trio Mirage (UK), London-based pianist Belle Chen, and the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra (AUS).
