Sakiko Kosaka
Ms Sakiko Kosaka is a Japanese composer whose music is performed in various countries around the world including Italy, Sweden, Germany, China, Korea and Japan by such performers, ensembles and orchestras among which Sinfonica Siciliana, Malmö Symphony Orchestra, Brandenburger Symphoniker, Geidai Philharmonia, Sinsei-nikkyo Symphony Orchestra and Synergy Percussions. Some of her works were also broadcasted by NHK-FM and SR-P2.
She received her Bachelor, Master and Doctoral degree from Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music. For her PhD, she studied under T.Noda, I.Matsushita, S.Kaneko and T.Funayama.
Her main activities are based on the ancient Japanese traditional music theory (Gagaku) characterised by a radiant mass, particularly peculiar tone shapes and distinctive structures. Kosaka integrates elements from such theory with the European style to create a detailed mixture of nuances and colours. Her music was also used as background music for many stage scenes and other visual and theatrical shows.
She is composer member of JFC, 21seiki-ongaku-no-kai and Ensemble Kochi.
