Gianluca Deserti
Gianluca Deserti obtained a piano, choral music and composition diploma, and then continued his composer’s studies, under the tuition of Franco Donatoni at various higher education institutes.
He has been working as a composer since 1990 and his pieces have been performed in Italy and abroad by groups such as the Dédalo Ensemble conducted by Vittorio Parisi (Brescia), the Uroboros Ensemble conducted by Gwyn Pritchard, the Grupo Música Contemporânea Lisboa conducted by Alessandro Calcagnile, the Ensemble Taller Sonoro (Seville), the NewMade Ensemble (Milan), the Octandre Ensemble (Bologna), as well as by soloists such as Rocco Parisi, Guido Arbonelli, Rocco Rescigno, Anastasiya Petryshak and others.
Gianluca Deserti has won numerous awards in national and international competitions, among which, of notable importance, the ”Valentino Bucchi of Roma Capitale” prize (first prize in 1994), the G.E.R.M.I award (first prize in 2011), in addition to first prizes at the International Composition Competition “Città di Pavia” (first prize in 1997 and 1998) and, recently, the first prize at “A. Manoni” Competition in Senigallia 2018.
His works have been broadcasted on RAI Radio 3, on foreign radio stations, web radios (RadioCEMAT), and have been recorded onto discs for the labels MPS Music and Video, ALIAMUSICA Records, AUDIOGLOBE, AGENDA and TAUKAY Editions.
He started composing electro-acoustic music about seven years ago thanks to studies undertaken with Javier Torres Maldonado. His works has received notable recognition and has been performed in events such as “Il Suono Occulto” (Parma, 2012), Festival of the Conservatoire of Latina “Le Forme del Suono”, Festival Comunitario della Arti Sonore “Di_stanze 2013”, EMUFest 2014 (Conservatorio Santa Cecilia – Rome), “Contemporanea 2015” in Udine, “New Made Week” 2015 (Lovere – Italy), Maskfest 2016 (San Leonardo Theatre in Bologna), “Diffrazioni 2016” (Florence), Maskfest 2018 and “Diffrazioni 2019”.
