Alfonso Alberti plays (the piano) and writes (books on music).

His great passion is the music of today, in the belief that it represents a significant opportunity to understand the times in which we live, and ourselves as people who live these times. He has released more than twenty CDs: his last solo cd with orchestra is Giorgio Gaslini – Murales Promenade, also featuring the “Orchestra Haydn di Bolzano e Trento” and conductor Yoichi Sugiyama. The Piano Concerto by Goffredo Petrassi (Orchestra della RAI, Arturo Tamayo) gained the 2012 Italian Critics’ Award. He enjoys an intense activity as chamber musician, in duo with pianist Anna D’Errico and with clarinettist Selene Framarin and as member of the Ensemble Prometeo and Ensemble Risognanze.

Alfonso Alberti’s books are published by LIM and L’Epos, and he curates musical editions for Ricordi and Durand. Among his books: La rosa è senza perché. Niccolò Castiglioni, 1966-1996 (LIM, 2012), Vladimir Horowitz (L’Epos, 2008), Le sonate di Claude Debussy (LIM, 2008).
