New Release for RMN Classical

Chiara C.NEWS, RMN CLASSICAL

With great pleasure and excitement, RMN Classical announces the release date for the new album titled Contemporary Chamber Musicpart of the contemporary music collection.

The release will include the selected winners of the Call for Chamber Music, nine new compositions for a total of thirteen tracks written by some of the most up-and-coming composers of today. The album is divided roughly into a 50/50 split between male and female composers where various countries are represented, among which UK, USA, Israel, Greece, Italy, Belgium, Japan and China.

The track-list includes:
01. Eye o da Hurricane by Angela Elizabeth Slater
02. Sparks and Flares by Michael Seltenreich
03. Le chemin qui brille by Ion Marmarinos
04. A un ami by Marcel Cominotto
05. – to 9. Tableaux Tartroniques by Brian T. Field
10. Bamboo’s Cave by Sakiko Kosaka
11. The Muse/Mastermind by Victoria Malawey
12. Matilda’s Dream by Shuying Li
13. Trio by Daniele Ciminiello

The album is as colourful as it sounds with a great variety of instrumentation that goes from trio and quartet to more enlarged ensembles. Some pieces have minimal instrumentation that includes female voice, almost like trying to remind us that there is still space for different styles of singing with so many interesting techniques that the human voice can explore. All the compositions are flawlessy performed by the many talented musicians and ensembles featured in the album.

All the composers present a self-contained well-defined idea with a strongly characterised writing style. The variety and quality of styles, choices and techniques used and represented is as innovative as someone can expect and more broadly of very high quality, but even though physically and spatially divided by thousands of kilometres, all the composers seem to share a subtle common thread. This may be the fact that the album never fully steps into the sonorities of ’60 and ’70 avant-garde tones, some “inheritance” can indeed be heard but the overall sound is definitely wandering around what the future will hold rather than reviving something pertaining to the past.

The sound resulting by the various combination of colours, registers and timbres, the level of innovation and quality of writing and performance make this album highly enjoyable and the ideal companion for the professional and the curious listener alike.

Contemporary Chamber Music will be available on every digital outlet and platform on Friday, April 26th, 2019 on RMN Classical.
